The Farmers

IMG_1337.jpeg

Soon after college, they married and moved to New Zealand. While in New Zealand, Kyle volunteered at Cultivate Christchurch, a small urban farm in the city of Christchurch. They also worked on cherry, peach, apple (and of course) a kiwi orchard in New Zealand. These experiences furthered their love for working outdoors and harvesting food from the land. After working on a couple WWOOF farms while overseas, they both decided their next step was to return to the United States and intern full-time on a vegetable farm... Wellll intern after completing a tandem bicycle trip from New York to Key West of course!

Kyle and Bekah Brown have been dreaming about farming since high school when they started dating. Kyle attended Houghton University where he studied Environmental Biology and Business Administration as well as played soccer. Bekah attended SUNY Oneonta where she studied Business Economics.

In 2022 they interned at Pleasant Valley Farm in Argyle, NY.  They learned more than they bargained for and are grateful for all they learned from Paul and Sandy Arnold while interning at their farm. After the internship, they felt confident to set off on their own farming adventure. An opportunity for access to land in East Syracuse was presented to them, and they decided to go for it! Farmer Brown's Market Garden is now in its second year of growing produce and is excited to see what the future holds!
